looking ahead

2026 - 2029

Over the next three years, Prahran Place will focus on using its strengths more deliberately. It will protect the funding that makes the work possible, strengthen learning as a pathway to connection, use Grattan Gardens with purpose, build practical partnerships, and make better decisions using evidence and local knowledge.

It will also use its resources, including reserves and DGR status, to strengthen sustainability and create practical community impact.

This is not a strategy about doing more for the sake of it. It is about choosing well, staying useful, and helping more people find belonging, connection and their next step.

Our 6 Priorities

Priority 1

Protect the funding that makes the work possible

Build a strong and sustainable funding base so we can continue creating opportunities for people to participate in community in ways that matter to them.

Priority 2

Keep learning a pathway to belonging

Create meaningful learning opportunities that build skills, confidence and connections, and support people to participate more fully in community life.

Priority 3

Use data to focus effort where it matters

Use evidence, feedback and what we learn from our work to understand what is making a difference and where we should focus our effort.

Priority 4

Use custom funding with purpose

Make thoughtful use of individualised funding to support people’s goals, choices and opportunities for greater participation and belonging.

Priority 5

Make partnerships practical

Build partnerships that lead to real opportunities, bringing people, organisations and communities together around shared outcomes.

Priority 6

Use evidence and innovation to create impact

Test new ideas, learn from evidence and improve what we do so our work continues to create meaningful and lasting impact.

Target

What success looks like in 2029

Belonging looks different for everyone. It might mean feeling safe, being recognised, building confidence, joining in, contributing, having a routine or knowing where to go for support.

Whatever it looks like, everyone should have the opportunity to participate, connect, learn, create, contribute or access support in ways that matter to them.

Our priorities for 2026–2029 set out where we’ll focus our energy and resources to make that possible. We are confident in our vision for our future which includes,
  • Sustainable funding — We have a strong and diverse funding base that allows us to keep doing what matters and plan confidently for the future.
  • Learning that leads somewhere — People build skills, confidence, connections and pathways that support greater participation and belonging.
  • Better decisions through data — We use evidence, feedback and lived experience to understand what’s working, what needs to change and where our effort will have the greatest impact.
  • Funding used with purpose — Individualised and custom funding translates into meaningful opportunities that reflect people’s goals, choices and aspirations.
  • Partnerships that create opportunities — Our partnerships are practical and purposeful, opening doors to new connections, experiences and opportunities in community.
  • Evidence and innovation that make a difference — We test ideas, learn, adapt and share what works, building evidence about how genuine belonging can be created and sustained.
