A history of positive impact
Prahran Place has more than 45 years of experience serving the local community, evolving our organisation and services to remain relevant, responsive and sustainable.
Over recent years, we have undertaken a significant period of organisational renewal. We have strengthened governance and financial controls, refreshed our leadership and operating model, developed a long-term strategic direction and built stronger partnerships across government, community and local organisations.
These stronger foundations have supported continued growth. Participation across our learning, social connection and outreach programs has increased, our partnerships have expanded our reach, and we are engaging more volunteers and student placements in our work. We have also diversified how and where we deliver services, including outreach into public housing communities and new online and partnership-based programs.
Financial sustainability remains a key priority. In 2024–25, Prahran Place recorded an operating surplus of $115,590 and net assets of approximately $1.49 million, strengthening our capacity to invest in our organisation and respond to future community needs.
Today, Prahran Place is a stronger, more focused and increasingly connected organisation, with the governance, partnerships and financial foundations to support sustainable growth and deliver lasting value for the community.

We believe that strong communities are built through meaningful relationships, lifelong learning and opportunities for everyone to participate. Every class, conversation, creative activity and shared experience helps strengthen the social fabric of our neighbourhood.

Prahran Place’s strategy is built around one clear idea: Belonging, on your own terms.
People come to Prahran Place for different reasons. Some come to learn. Some come to meet others. Some come for support, routine, confidence, or a safe place to return to.
The role of Prahran Place is not to decide what belonging should look like for people. It is to create the practical opportunities that help people find it for themselves.

Prahran Place contributes to a stronger, healthier and more connected local community. It does this by helping people participate in ways that matter to them.
For some people, the next step is learning a skill. For others, it is meeting someone, finding support, building confidence, joining a group or feeling known in a place. The vision is deliberately practical. It is about more people having a way into community life.
Our Purpose
To help people connect, learn, contribute and access support in ways that matter to them.
Prahran Place creates the conditions for people to take their own next step. It does not need every person to follow the same pathway.
One person may come for English. Another may come for digital skills. Another may come for company, volunteering, cultural connection or support. The purpose is to make those pathways easier to find, easier to enter and easier to continue.
